BRISBANE HOUSES

CHAPEL HILL HOUSE

Aspect to the street proved to be the determining factor for this dwelling in Brisbane’s western suburbs. To ameliorate the effect of the north west summer sun, the entry the the dwelling was constructed from massive concrete masonry walls and a suspended concrete awning. All the living areas in the house are oriented to the southeast and every effort has been made to harness the effects of the cooling breezes from that direction. The 2 storey walls visible in the south east views concentrate the air flow to maximise the effect in the internal living areas when the bifold doors are opened.
